Crete 2016: Post-Conciliar Reflections

During the January 2016 Synaxis of Primates, held in Chambésy (Geneva), it was decided that the Holy and Great Council would not only study the 6 preconciliar documents, but also issue a Message, confirming what His Eminence, Metropolitan John of Pergamon had said a few weeks previously during a scholars’ meeting at the Phanar. My paper studied the drafting process of the Message and the Encyclical, reflecting on the methodology, the themes and the authority of the texts.
