Abstract
In this essay, the author discusses some of the key aspects of the Eastern Orthodox
understanding of holiness and holy persons. He highlights humanity’s vocation and
destiny in theosis, Orthodox hagiology and the process of canonization, as well as
iconography’s role in the discernment of holiness and holy persons.
